The International Football Association Board (IFAB), the world refereeing governing body, has met at FIFA headquarters to study the use of VAR at the next World Cup, which will take place between June 14th and July 15th.
In addition to deciding on the use of the video system, which has already been utilised in the Confederations Cup and important national competitions such as the Bundesliga and Serie A, sponsors have been reportedly sought out to place their logos on the television screen each time the referee chooses to take a decision upstairs.
FIFA's commercial director, Philippe Le Floc'h, said: "VAR will definitely be used in Russia. I think it's great to have technology in football, it makes it more fair."
However, at the moment a company hasn't been chosen to manage the system: "We are talking to several technology companies who are extremely interested in what we are doing."
The IFAB also published a video on Twitter in an attempt to explain some of the important issues related to VAR. It will be the first World Cup in history to use technology.
