Official: Andrada hit with 13-match ban after derby assault
Esteban Andrada has been hit with a 13-match ban. The RFEF confirmed the heavy sanction on Wednesday, ruling on the goalkeeper's violent conduct towards Jorge Pulido during the Aragonese derby between Huesca and Real Zaragoza at El Alcoraz.
The governing body confirmed the goalkeeper will be sidelined for 12 games "for assaulting another person, with additional fines for both the club and the player, in accordance with Article 52 of the Disciplinary Code." The final match of the suspension stems from his "double caution and subsequent dismissal," with the RFEF taking a dim view of the incident.
Dani Jimenez, the Huesca shot-stopper, has also been hit with a four-match ban for his involvement in the altercation with Esteban Andrada. Meanwhile, Tasende will miss the next two fixtures following his red card. The RFEF has now concluded its investigation into a derby marred by shameful scenes on the pitch.
The Real Zaragoza goalkeeper has received the longest suspension in Spanish professional football since 1990. After losing his cool and striking Jorge Pulido, he will sit out the next 13 matches, a massive blow to his side's hopes of La Liga 2 survival.
