James Rodriguez responded to his critics by scoring an impressive hat-trick against Mainz on Sunday, and after the game he was asked by reporters about a potential return to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
"We will see what happens. Lots of games remain this season," said the Colombian, who also spoke of the return of Zinedine Zidane to the Bernabeu, and what this could mean for his future.
"Nothing happened with Zidane. I don't think it will affect my future at all", he assured. James' performances this season have been promising, and he currently has seven goals and six assists from the 23 games he has played.
The attacking midfielder has also changed his role with Bayern Munich this season. Manager Nico Kovac was not keen on starting him at the start of the season, but has played him in every single Bayern game in 2019.
"I'm happy for the three goals and the ovation he received. James has given us a lot", said Kovac after the win over Mainz.
In June, Bayern will decide on whether they will keep their on-loan star, with the midfielder's loan contract including a clause that would allow James to be signed permanently at the end of the season for 42 million euros.
