Sergi Roberto was hot topic for Barcelona ahead of the end of the season. The academy graduate ends his contract in June after a one year extension which he signed last summer when he was a free agent.
The lack of game time and trust Xavi has in him, despite him repeatedly saying that he was going to play him, put doubts in people's mind about the Catalan player, who was weighing up the possiblity of staying or looking for another side.
However, his love for Barcelona has come through and he will extend his stay until 2024, according to 'El Partidazo de COPE'. What is more, the source mentioned that he will continue earning the same amount of money, and he will not be getting a raise.
The agreement is currently imminent and the fact that one of the side's fours captains is staying will soon be made official by the club. Hector Bellerin's departure could mean that Sergi Roberto gets more game time in that right-back position.
