Few deals have been as simple for Real Madrid than the extension of Nacho's contract. The player has always wanted to continue playing for 'Los Blancos'. He has been on the receiving end of some tempting offers, but his priority has always remained clear.
This season, he has performed well under Ancelotti's direction and the board at the club have taken note of his adaptability to play in both the centreback and left back positions. They also of course appreciate his attitude and work ethic.
'Marca' reports that the deal is 90% complete and therefore it will soon be announced that he will remain at the club until at least 2024. He already extended his contract until 2023 last year, but the club want to ensure that his services remain at the Bernabeu for another season.
Nacho has had offers from some of Italy's biggest clubs in the past. However, Real Madrid have made it clear that his home is in the Spanish capital, and at 32 years of age, he has become a symbol of 'Los Blancos'.
This season, despite not being part of Ancelotti's ideal starting eleven, he has scored three goals in 39 appearances. He has played in 25 La Liga matches, 9 Champions League fixtures, three Copa del Rey ties, and two Spanish Supercopa games.
