Jose Mourinho was sacked from Manchester United in 2018 after two and a half years in charge. Peter Schmeichel, Red Devils legend, criticised the Portuguese' attitude in the months after his exit, in an interview with 'The Times'.
The former goalkeeper stated that Mourinho had made a mistake by making "bitter comments" against United and his successor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
"In this period he said a lot of things about Solskjaer's game and results with bitterness. I think he was too upset at first because it was his old job," said Schmeichel, who defended the Mancunian jersey for eight years.
Mourinho's move to 'Sky Sports' as a commentator and then his arrival at Tottenham seems to have calmed him down a little bit. "Now he's the humble one," the former goalkeeper joked, who is the father of Kasper Schmeichel, the keeper who won the Premier League with Leicester City.
"I'm not going to say if Jose was United's best coach. I'm definitely not going to say if he was a failure, if it was right to name him or if they did well to fire him," continued Schmeichel, who appreciated Mourinho's presence in England: "Jose is very important to the Premier League. He gives us something different. That's why it's good that he's still here".
