Chelsea and Graham Potter are still trying to get Mason Mount to renew his contract with them and follow in the footsteps of Reece James.
According to 'The Athletic', the England international has been trying to reach an agreement with Chelsea for several weeks but the World Cup break slowed down the negotiations.
Mount is one of Todd Boehly's priorities but it seems that the player did not want to rush into signing a contract. The reason for this is that, if he has good performances in the World Cup, the midfielder will want to become the highest paid player in the squad.
The negotiations began in July 2022, just before the start of the season. The World Cup will be decisive for the player's aspirations, as well as for Chelsea.
