Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) had got in touch with Leo Messi's circle to tell them of their interest in the player. According to the newspaper 'L'Équipe' on Friday, they reportedly responded by saying that he prefers to go to Manchester City.
The latest reports had revealed that the sporting director of the Parisian club, Leonardo, had called the player's father and agent, Jorge Messi, to show his interest in Messi's situation and communicate his interest if he leaves Barcelona.
The newspaper states that although the player's father responded to the call "in a friendly way", Messi has reportedly chosen to sign for Pep Guardiola's side.
On Wednesday, ´L'Équipe' had affirmed that PSG saw the player joining their ranks if he leaves Barca as "impossible".
The sports newspaper indicated at the time that the directors of the Parisian club considered that the operation would be incompatible with the 'Financial Fair Play' imposed by UEFA, even in the case that Messi managed to avoid the clause in his contract with Barca in order to leave for free.
The Barca captain sent a fax to the Catalan club in which he requested to be let go for free in order to be able to sign for another team and in his letter, he invoked the clause that he has in his contract that allowed him to leave for free before 10th June.
