After a tough clash against France in the World Cup, Lionel Messi returns to the Argentine National Team in preparation for the Copa America 2019.
The Argentine, who claimed two assists in the match against France, was unable to take his country into the next round. Since then, there had been no trace of the Argentine number 10 until Scaloni recalled him to the squad, which was announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Argentina coach held a press conference in Ezeiza on Thursday in order to announce the Argentine squad list for their upcoming friendlies in March.
The big news is Messi's return, who will have the opportunity to get back on form for his country before facing Venezuela and Morroco. The aim is to make sure the superstar is on his best form possible before the Copa America.
This will be the second return for the 'number 10' for his country, after losing against Chile in the final of the 2016 Copa America. It went from "I am done playing for Argentina" to returning two months later.

As well as Messi's appearance on the squad list, Scaloni unveiled a few new faces ahead of this month's friendlies. Matias Suarez and Domingo Blanco are a couple that may come as a surprise.
