Gavi, one of the players at Barcelona with the brightest future, sees his contract expire in summer 2023, so Barca see it as a priority to renew him. As a result, the board have arranged a meeting with his agent, Ivan de la Pena, which will take place this Monday. Helena Condis gave details on this on the radio programme 'El Partidazo de COPE'.
Condis said that Barca are aiming this is the last meeting and that the midfielder agrees to put pen to paper. Sporting director Mateu Alemany said publicly that his plan is for the youngster to stay at the club for many years. That would guarantee him forming part of Xavi Hernandez's long term project.
The footballer is happy with this so, barring a surprise, he will extend his contact after his agent gets all the details from Alemany. The player could well get an improved salary given he is now an important player for the club.
This season, Gavi has played 46 times, 35 of them as a starter, with one La Liga match remaining.
