"I'm very happy with his return. But not only for me, in Real Madrid everyone adored 'Zizou'. I've said it millions of times that I'd do anything for him. I was very happy with his arrival. It's not just me, it's the whole of Madrid," said the left-back in an interview with 'Sportingbet.tv'.
Marcelo continued to sing his boss' praises: "Him having been a player helps a lot. He knows what's going on in everyone's head. If a player is doing well or not so well, he knows how to talk to him. That makes everything easier for everyone".
The Brazilian also took the opportunity to comment on Zidane's playing career: "It's not just that he was a player, he was the best around in his day. He wasn't normal, he was very good. And as a coach, in a very short time, he was fantastic too".
Marcelo's Real Madrid career seemed to be coming to an end as he fell out of favour with Santiago Solari, but a run of poor results under the Argentinian saw Zidane return to the take the reins and attempt to turn around the fortunes of a side in freefall.
The Frenchman's return changed everything for Marcelo, who had been linked with a reunion with friend and former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in Turin. The Brazilian has got his smile back and, bit by bit, looks to be rediscovering his form after a poor start to the season.
"Everyone knows how happy I am and how happy I am every day training or playing, wearing this shirt. There are plenty of things they say from the outside. I think..., I think not: Madrid is my home and those who know me know it for real," said Madrid's number 12 after beating Athletic Bilbao 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 30 year-old has started 7 of Zidane's 9 games during his second stint as Real manager, playing 630 minutes - a total only surpassed by Raphael Varane (720)
