The Etihad Stadium outfit issued an official statement confirming they lodged an appeal on Thursday. "The club's position is firm in that the Premier League's opinion contains clear material errors of law, principle, and fact, and is unsafe," City outlined in their release.
"The club is innocent of the charges brought by the Premier League, and a substantial body of irrefutable evidence supports this across the board. We will respect the remainder of the process and are restricted in what we can say until all proceedings have concluded," the statement continued. The formal submission triggers a 12-week review window ahead of a five-day hearing, followed by a 30-day period for a verdict to be delivered.
Meanwhile, according to financial outlet 'Bloomberg', officials from the United Arab Emirates have warned the UK government that any sanction, depending on its severity, could deliver an impact on the "appetite for investments and other large-scale commitments". Data cited in the report shows the Gulf state has channelled more than €35 billion into UK sectors, including defence, science, and technology, over the past five years.
