Man City coach Guardiola fires dig at Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal over net spend

Manchester City are just two games away from an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title, confirming the Cityzens' supreme dominance of the English top flight in recent years. 

Many in England have blamed the Sky Blues' success on the arrival of Sheikh Mansour in 2008 and his correspondingly big spending since taking over the club. However, Pep Guardiola does not believe the successive triumphs of his squad have had anything to do with money. 

Indeed, many fans have branded the Premier League a "boring" competition where it is all about "money", an idea from which the Spanish coach differs sharply, citing examples of big clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea who have spent heavily in recent years but have achieved little in the way of silverware. 

"Premier League is not boring. It’s difficult. Before it was the money. For that reason, Manchester United should have won all the titles, Chelsea – all the titles, Arsenal – all the titles," said the Catalan coach. 

"They spend as much money in the last five years as us. They should be there. They are not there. For that reason Girona shouldn’t be in the Champions League [next season] and Leicester should win the Premier League.”
