Guardiola wanted to sign Ter Stegen for City

Joe Hart left Manchester City this summer in order to spend one season on loan at Torino. Claudio Bravo came from Barcelona and replaced him but Pep Guardiola revealed that Bravo wasn't his first choice.
Bravo's German team-mate and rival Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was the Spaniard's first choice but he turned the offer down.
The Spaniard knew about Ter Stegen's unhappy situation at Barca and wanted to take advantage of the situation: "As for Ter Stegen I knew that he wanted to play all the time. We got in touch. He wasn't happy with his situation. We needed a goalkeeper like Claudio or Ter Stegen".
He admitted: "Claudio came and Ter Stegen decided to stay. If I ever called a player playing in any other club it would be in a special situation of not playing, and it would be my right to".
