According to 'The Sun', Real Madrid are now looking towards Marcus Rashford as the player to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu, something they did not manage to achieve in the summer transfer window. Club scouts attended England's win over Croatia on Sunday, while they have also been at 'Red Devils' matches this season.
'Los Blancos' sold Ronaldo to Juventus for around £100 million in July, and would hope to bring in 21-year-old Rashford for half the amount. The youngster has three goals in his last six England games, though has struggled with Manchester United so far this campaign amid frequent criticism from manager Jose Mourinho.
The Spanish giants are also lining up a £40m for Christian Eriksen, 26, who they see as the long-term successor to midfielder Luka Modric. The Denmark international has 18 months left on his deal with Tottenham but negotiations over a contract extension have reportedly stalled.
Eriksen played 45 minutes in Denmark's Nations League draw with Republic of Ireland on Tuesday, and was left frustrated with the performance of the visitors. Speaking to 'Sky Sports', he remarked: "They wasted a lot of time if they could. They took their time on everything and they rarely went forward so it was difficult to break them down.
"That's why there was a few chances but normally the chances are big enough to score and to finish the game off but we didn't. There was a lot of defending of their side and us trying to attack against 11 men in their own half."
