Fekir was close to signing for Liverpool earlier in the transfer window, before that deal broke down at the last minute over medical concerns.
On June 9th, Lyon released a statement: "Olympique Lyonnais inform you that the tripartite negotiations between Liverpool, Lyon and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the Lyon captain have not been concluded, and the club has decided to bring them to a halt."
However, things now seem to have taken a turn, as expressed by Aulas in an interview with 'RT France'.
"I was expected, at one time, that he was destined for Liverpool. I had given the green lights. Things are not done because they are too difficult. Nabil is an exceptional player. The fact that things were not completed with Liverpool has sparked the interest of a number of clubs, not only Real Madrid and their new manager. Anything is possible. But people have their eye on him. My objective, it's to make him stay. I hope he will stay, but if he absolutely wants to leave then we will try to find the biggest club for him to facilitate his high level of play," Aulas has said.
Fekir is under contract at Lyon until 2020.
