Jose Mourinho's team have recently come from behind to beat Newcastle United and draw with Chelsea, but their Belgian striker wants to see his team start better. Speaking to the media ahead of Tuesday's game he said:
‘’We need to start with much more confidence and intensity on the offensive side because defensively we are set up really well, but then it is on the ball where we need to make the difference.’’
‘’The mood is really positive. Obviously we are really disappointed with how the game ended against Chelsea, but like I said at the start of last season a lot of stuff has changed behind the scenes.’’
‘’It’s going to take time to be where we want to be, but I think the last two games have proved that.’’
Although he has scored four Premier League goals this season, Lukaku has not hit the heights he has previously with Everton or Belgium yet at Old Trafford, but said it would just be a matter of time:
‘’I’m still in the phase where, with Belgium I’ve been playing there for 10 years, so since I’ve been playing there since I was 16. Players know me much more.’’
‘’But here I still think that my teamwork between myself and my team-mates can improve much better and it’s something that we are working on.’’
‘’The players need to know me, they need to know my movement and I need to know their movement. When that starts clicking then the results like I have with Belgium will come also over here.’’
