Luis Enrique Martínez, the Spain coach, asked all Spaniards to stay at home during the COVID-19 lockdown because he said that "it is proving to be very difficult to control this pandemic." He also thanked all the health workers in the hospitals, the police and firemen.
"I would like to remember all of those people who are unfortunately in hospital, the patients of course, but also all the health workers, the nurses, the doctors, the volunteers who are helping and who put their lives ahead of others. Also to the police and the firemen who are helping us get through this," Luis Enrique said in a virtual meeting with supporters before he started answering questions.
The Asturian coach asked for the citizens to avoid leaving their homes. "Those of us who are at home can rightly complain, but we have to look at the bigger picture and think that we need to stay at home because we are really struggling to control this pandemic."
"It's in our hands to be able to prevent people most at risk from being very badly affected. It's important to stick to the rules," he said.
