Sweden exceeded expectations at the World Cup, making the quarter-finals, in much part thanks to a very solid back-line. At the heart of this back line was Victor Lindelof, who was highly impressive.
Rio Ferdinand, speaking to the 'BBC', explained how Vindelof seemed to be performing better for his nation than his club. "He's 23, he's young, he came to United with a big, big price tag from Benfica," Ferdinand said. "He didn't seem to have the confidence in a Manchester United shirt that I've seen in a Sweden shirt."
"The manager, the staff, the players in that team look like they believe in this boy."
The centre-back signed for Manchester United last summer for £31m, coming highly rated from Benfica, but he has failed to stamp his mark on the Premier League.
He hasn't always been favoured by Jose Mourinho, making just 13 starts in the league, and it seems that there are teams looking to take advantage of his lack of game-time.
The 'Daily Mail' state that there are a number of big European sides who have enquired about a loan deal for the Swede, after he caught the eye in Russia.
However, they also state that Mourinho intends to reject the interest, as he is not willing to let Lindelof leave.
