Leon Bailey claimed that he turned down approaches from many top Premier League sides in order to continue his development at Bayer Leverkusen.
The winger attracted attention of Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea in the summer, following a series of star studded displays in the Bundesliga during the 2017-18 season.
However, in spite of all four Premier League giants making formal bids for the player, he opted to stay with Bayer Leverkusen in order to continue his progress.
In an interview, the Jamaican international told 'Four Four Two', "Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool – a lot of clubs were interested. But the most important thing as a pro is taking things a step at a time and not rushing to the top too quickly. Because once you get there, where do you go next?"
He continued: "I believe the right timing is important, and it was the right moment to be at Bayer Leverkusen. They are a tremendous club with so much history. A lot of good players have come from there; they can get into the Champions League and are always doing well. So why not them? It was the perfect move for me and I'm happy I made it."

Bailey insisted that he is content to remain where he is for now, saying:"My focus isn't really on moving anywhere yet. I'm just about what's happening right now rather than what could happen in the future. I'm still learning."
In his breakthrough campaign in Germany, Bailey recorded an impressive nine goals and six assists, but the 21 year old has enured a rather quieter start to the current campaign.
Bailey sparked controversy when he refused a call up for his national side last month; he pulled out of the game citing a failure for the Jamaican Football Federation's failure to keep to an agreement they made upon him deciding to represent the country.
