On June 1st, 2013, Diego Llorente made his debut for Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho gave him the chance to replace Alvaro Arbeloa on the last matchday of the 2012-13 season, when the 'Merengues' faced Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu. What the youngster probably didn't imagine was that, 10 years and a little over a month later, he would once again be under 'The Special One'.
Roma confirmed in an official statement that reached a new agreement with Leeds United to keep the Spaniard until the summer of 2024. The agreement is a reissue of the signature already initialed in winter this year, when the former Real Sociedad or Malaga joined the ranks 'Giallorossi' for only the second half of the campaign.
If nothing goes wrong, the 23-24 season should be a record-breaking one for him. It has been a long time since he has been on the field regularly and, in his recent experience in Serie A, he did not have time to set records as impressive as those of his first years in the Spanish top flight, when he played for Rayo Vallecano. This time, he will once again be able to count on the full confidence of his coach.
"I am proud to be able to continue to be part of the 'Giallorossi' family. When I had the opportunity to come to Roma in January, I didn't hesitate for a moment and even less in these days of waiting. I always knew that I would do anything to stay not only to continue to belong to a historic club, but also to reunite with my teammates and fight again with them and with our fans to achieve the goals we deserve," he said, delighted, at the event of his return.
