Things are not going as well for Kepa Arrizabalaga as he would like. He was the subject of a million-dollar transfer to Chelsea in 2018, but he does not seem to have adapted to the Premier League since then.
The Basque goalkeeper is still weighed down by his frustrated move to Real Madrid. He didn't arrive in that crazy January of 2018 and his landing in England hasn't gone down well.
Interestingly, his problems on the islands have not been replicated in the Spanish national team, where he has performed solidly and has even taken the place of David de Gea.
The Chelsea keeper was left on the bench against Leicester after Frank Lampard could no longer hide his doubts about his performance.
"The day before the game we trained and I was in the eleven. It was a difficult moment for Kepa, for the team. It was also really hard for Frank," admitted Caballero, a starter despite his 38 years at King Power Stadium.
After a first season with Maurizio Sarri in which he had irregular moments, but was not so out of tune as he is this current campaign, the first campaign under Frank Lampard is proving a disaster.
The former Athletic goalkeeper has lost his confidence, maintained very few clean sheets and his performance has been in decline, which explains Lampard's decision to leave him on the bench.
