Toni Kroos, current Real Madrid player, was a guest on 'Universo Valdano' and gave an interview in which he spoke about many topics, including Casemiro's recent departure to Manchester United.
"I was surprised. I hadn't seen signs and I didn't know until the rumours started. But there are a lot of rumours here and often nothing happens," began the German midfielder.
In the same vein, he added: "Then he told me and at first I was a bit sad because you remember all the years together, all the things we won, without losing a single final, which is not normal.
However, far from mourning the departure of his friend, Kroos turned the page: "But in the end it's the life of football, there are players who leave, then others.... There is always an end.
Kroos gave details of his adaptation to the tactical system without Casemiro in midfield: "I feel much more comfortable on the left. It's changed a bit with Aurelien, because he comes out of position a bit more than Casemiro. That forces me a bit more, but I also like it.
"It doesn't change too much for me, although I might be a bit more defensive. In general it doesn't affect me too much, I play my game, I like to get down a bit to help get the ball out of our half, because it's good for attacking. I like touching the ball, of course," he concluded.
