Ahead of the game against Burnley, Thomas Tuchel spoke to the media. He expects Chelsea to take three more points.
Beyond the clash in question, the German coach went over the club's current sporting situation. He admitted that a defender might arrive in the future.
Christensen, Rüdiger and Azpilicueta all have contracts expiring in June 2022. Chelsea are therefore looking to add to their defensive ranks. Szalai has been one of the last to be mentioned, although Tuchel has not forgotten about Kounde, who was left on the doorstep at Stamford Bridge.
Despite Chalobah's recent renewal until 2026, Chelsea could still make a move for a defender. "We feel there is the same need, but it's clear that Chalobah is with us and he deserves it. He has taken a step forward," Tuchel commented.
He left the door to Stamford Bridge more than open for the foreseeable future. "Chalobah's renewal has nothing to do with whether we can sign another centre-back," he concluded.
