Many thought that Maurizio Sarri would take weeks, if not months, to introduce his highly unique style of play.
However, the start to their season cold not have gone better so far, remaining unbeaten in all competitions including beating Liverpool twice in the same week.
Their main signing of the summer was the acquisition of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa, who was brought in on a world-record fee to replace Thibaut Courtois.
While he admits that the style of play is not exaclty what he has been used to so far in his club career, the Basque player thinks that it can put his side firmly in contention for the Premier League title.
"We like to play the ball with our feet here and maybe it was not quite so much at Athletic but, for sure [we did] through the various age-groups of the Spanish national team, and so it’s a style of play that I know and something I feel relaxed and comfortable with." the former Bilbao player said.
"The team has gradually been changing its playing style from last season to this. This season everyone is happy with what the coach is proposing, we are improving little by little and I think it’s a great way of playing which suits the players and the squad we have
"We’re working to still be in the mix when there are five or eight league games left, involved in every competition possible by the time we get to March and April, that’s when everything starts to be decided. We have to still be alive in every competition around that period"
