The Spurs striker had opened the scoring in the first half with a tap in, and was again in the right place at the right time to nod home England's second goal to give his country a winning start to the World Cup.
Kane thought that the Three Lions' opposition were lucky to get away with a few challenges during the match, and that refereeing decisions were not always consistent during the game.
"A few corners, they were trying to grab, hold and stop us running. Maybe it was a bit of justice to score at the back post at the end. That's football, that's the ref. It showed good character to get on with it." the player told the 'BBC', who has now scored 15 goals in just 25 appearances for his national team.
His manager Gareth Southgate was also keen to praise the 24 year-old, believing that his captain took his opportunities well and deserved to get his brace to bring their side an important 3 points going forward in the tournament.
"Good teams score late goals." the ex-defender said.
"I was most proud of the way we kept playing even though the clock was running down.
"We stayed patient, and didn't just throw the ball in the box.
"We deserved the win. We were strong on set-plays all night. If we'd drawn, even though it would have made life more difficult for us, I'd have been proud of the performance."
England play Panama next in Group G on Sunday.
