Matthijs de Ligt is proving to be one of the most in-demand players during this summer transfer window. After an excellent season in which he captained Ajax to a Champions League semi-final, the Dutch defender is ready to take a step-up in his career.
Juventus are the team leading the race for his signature, and they have now offered 50 million Euros plus Italian striker Moise Kean, one of the most promising forwards in Europe, in exchange for the 19 year-old, according to 'La Gazzette dello Sport'.
With the player's agent Mino Raiola confirming that de Ligt has already agreed personal terms with Juve, the only thing left now is for the two clubs to strike a deal.
Juve believe this latest offer is an improvement on their first, which was 50 million Euros and no player. Ajax rejected their initial offer, demanding between 75 and 80 million for their leader.
Interestingly, 'De Telegraaf' revealed that Ajax themselves promised, in the summer of last year, that they would accept any offer exceeding 50 million Euros for de Ligt. However, it seems that his outstanding season has seen his stock rise, and the Dutch champions have raised their asking price accordingly.
