Jordi Alba's great volley put Betis down in the 94th minute

Jordi Alba was in charge of killing off Betis in a league game that Barcelona had been struggling to win. Xavi Hernandez had already warned in his pre-match press conference that winning at the Benito Villamarin was vital for second place and his pupil responded with a masterful strike on the stroke of half-time.

Dani Alves delivered a cross into the box and his team-mate burst in emphatically at the far post. Without a second thought, he struck with his left foot, with which he is a specialist, and challenged Rui Silva with a powerful, lofted shot that the keeper could do nothing about.

As the goal came in the 94th minute of the game, there was no time for Manuel Pellegrini's men to react, so the three points remained in the box for the Catalans. It was key to get back to winning ways after Marc Bartra had equalised Ansu Fati's goal to make it 0-1.

It is not the first time that Jordi Alba has appeared to score a goal that is fundamental for Barcelona, which proves Xavi Hernandez right for giving him so much importance in his schemes and praising him every time he has a chance in his appearances before the press.
