Brazil full-back Marcelo, presented on Friday as a Fluminense player, avoided talking about a possible return to Real Madrid at the end of his career and said he hopes to play "many years" at the Rio de Janeiro club.
"Today is not a day to talk about Real Madrid, who did a lot for me. It's a day to talk about Fluminense and I'm not thinking about leaving yet," the 34-year-old replied in Spanish at a press conference after his presentation at the Maracana stadium.
Marcelo's priority is to stay with Fluminense until the end of the contract he signed until the end of 2024, with an option to extend it for another year. "I want to be here for many years and win titles. You can't know what's going to happen in the future, but what I want is to stay here for a long time," Marcelo said.
From Brazil, the player will follow the career that his 13-year-old son Enzo Alves has just started in Real Madrid's youth teams. "I hope Enzo will surpass me," said the full-back, who after 16 years returns to the club where he grew up.
