Various media outlets assure that his departure from Real Madrid has already been decided, but Varane himself, in comments to 'L'Équipe' has declared that he feels happy at Real Madrid.
"They say I'm not happy here, but that is not true. We have had a difficult season in which we have had to fight. I have played my socks off and I can be proud of that. On the rest, what is being said is false and I can't control everything that is said about me," he explained.
Furthermore, the French central defender admitted that maybe his isolated character could be influencing the rumours which are circulating in the Spanish and French media: "I am a person who keeps himself to himself and the problem of this is they talk a little bit about you and you end up hearing things."
"I am at Real Madrid, the greatest club in the world. I feel I am being interrogated permanently. since the fundamental requirement is to always be at the top of your game," he added, making clear that he is focussed on Real Madrid.
That said, just like in his comments last Thursday, Varane did not flatly deny a possible exit, for which it would noit be surprising if he still has to put up with rumours until the summer. Amidst so many rumours, Varane is currently with the French national team, with which he has started in the best possible way France's road to qualification for Euro 2020. 'Les bleus' won 1-4 at Moldova on Friday and the Real Madrid defender scored one of the goals.
