Zinedine Zidane split up his squad with a recovery session for the his those who started against Levante. Sergio Ramos was not in that group as he picked up a calf injury against Levante and did not train on Sunday. He will miss the first Champions League game through suspension.
The rest of the Real Madrid starters against Levante did light running. The substitutes and the rest of the players carried out a more intense training session. They did exercises in possession and out of it, practicising shooting on target and playing matches with a small field.
Eden Hazard, who made his competitive debut for Real Madrid against Levante, worked intensely to improve his fitness. Gareth Bale, suspended for the Levante game, carried out the session with a group which also included academy players Diego Altube and Oscar Aranda.
Marco Asensio will be out for a long time while Luka Modric and Fede Valverde got treatment on the injuries they suffered on international duty.
Isco took a step towards recovering from his muscle injury by training separately from the rest. He did exercises with and without the ball. "I was really missing you," he wrote on social media with an image of him playing with the ball.
