Is Kylian Mbappe worth it?

Europe's top clubs have been fighting tooth and nail for the past few months in their attempts to secure the services of Kylian Mbappe. The teenager who has taken the world of football by storm in under a season since bursting onto the scene.
A crucial part of Monaco's exciting young team, Mbappe led his team to the Champions League semi-finals before being crowned Ligue 1 champions. Mbappe managed 15 goals and eight assists in the domestic competition, meaning he was directly involved in a league goal every 65 minutes.
Mbappe made his debut for France earlier this year, and his price tag has not stopped growing. The 18-year-old's main attraction is potential. If he has done what he has at such a young age, he could be an immense talent once he reaches footballing maturity.
He has been compared to Thierry Henry in his style of play, and any player who shares any similarities with the former Arsenal man is worth the investment. However, a step up to a more demanding league could see his progress stalled. We have seen those cases before, but never after £160 million have been paid.
The market is changing, so such an asking price is not as astounding as it once was. If market inflation continues as Mbappe maintains his phenomenal displays his resale value would remain in at least the next decade.
It is not easy to tell if the youngster is worth such a hefty fee which, at first glance could sound ludicrous. But let's not forget, we're talking about an 18-year-old who has netted more goals than Messi and Ronaldo combined scored at that stage. Only time will tell.
