Fame is a double-edged sword that not everyone is willing to deal with. As in many other sports or aspects of life, football does not escape it and it is not the first time that the private lives of the protagonists have been implicated.
The latest to do so was Iker Casillas. The former footballer posted a message on his Twitter account that surprised everyone: "I hope they respect me: I'm gay. #happySunday".
It didn't take long for the message to go viral and even several former teammates such as Puyol and Bartra followed suit. However, Casillas himself deleted the post shortly afterwards.
Later, Paco Gonzalez reported on 'Cadena COPE' that it was a kind of protest to complain about the successive rumours about the former goalkeeper's new relationships after his break-up with Sara Carbonero.
