Following the end of the Nantes-Juventus match, the Argentine Di Maria spoke to 'Sky Sport' after the wonderful match he played in Nantes to get them through to the next round.
"I am very happy that we managed to put the team's work into practice. We wanted to go through, the Europa League is very important for us. I've been waiting a long time for an evening like this with Juve, I managed to raise the bar. Those are my qualities, I was able to help the team, we won and we're in the last 16," he commented on the performance he put in.
Regarding the injuries he suffered, Di María said: "The criticism started, I felt sorry for them because I knew I could have given more. It took me a while to get back to fitness, then I relapsed. Mentally, it wasn't easy, I couldn't give what I wanted, but now I'm happy.
Finally, he spoke about the game his team played and added a final quote. "This result means a lot for the season. After Nantes we beat Spezia away from home and we came here in front of a crowd that gave everything for them. But we got what we wanted. Del Piero? He's a legend, a genius. He's had an incredible career here, now I'm trying to do the best I can. I met him: it was very nice," he concluded.
