"I've always wanted to triumph at Barcelona"

Barcelona midfielder Gavi said that he "always wanted to triumph" at the Catalan club in an event with fans at the Spotify Camp Nou. The 18 year-old has signed a new contract until 30th June 2026 and he is now officially a first team player.
"I'm very happy to renew. It's something I've dreamed about since I was young. My family, my agent (Ivan de la Pena) and I have always been clear about it," Gavi added on the field of play in front of around 5,000 fans who were in the second tier of the stand at the stadium.
When asked about how it was going from playing youth team football to the first team, Gavi had words of appreciations for all those who have accompanied him during this huge change: I've been trying to handle it as naturally as possible. Those at La Masia have helped me a lot with this topic. Growing up at La Masia is something unique and I'm very grateful to everyone who works there, who've taught me to work and be humble."
The 18 year-old Spanish footballer signed his new contract on the pitch at the Camp Nou together with the president Joan Laporta, who gave the player club membership (socio). His contract also features a one billion euro buyout clause.
"It's a historic day. The immediate and long term future of Barca (Gavi) is looking at us. Gavi is an example of talent, effort, of giving it his all. It's a very happy day for Barca, Gavi and for all Barca fans," the Barca president said.
