The Italian coach, aware of the controversy the penalty his team got in the 82nd minute caused, revealed what he said to the Liverpool coach to try and defuse the tension.
"I said to him: 'Don't worry, if you lose in Napoli, you will end up winning the Champions League," Ancelotti said in a press conference, making reference to what happened during the past edition of the European competition.
And the thing, last term, a historic one for Liverpool, started in Europe with a Liverpool victory 3-2 at the Parc des Princes... and a 1-0 defeat in San Paolo, where his team lost this Tuesday.
Liverpool ended up fighting back from that defeat in Southern Italy. In fact, they were close to being knocked out of the group phase since they lost three games, but managed to get into the last 16 on the last matchday to start their path towards the European crown.
