"He won three, I won six" - Guardiola on his 6 titles gesture compared to Jose Mourinho

One of the most historic coaching rivalries in the history of football is undoubtedly that of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho. The Spanish and Portuguese coaches have clashed countless times and tensions have risen between them due to their opposing personalities. 

Indeed, Guardiola did something of Jose Mourinho's own when the Manchester City manager gestured to the Anfield stand about the Premier League titles he had won (6) as Liverpool fans chanted that he would be sacked tomorrow. 

In fact, the Portuguese manager during his time with Manchester United, which marked a low point in his great managerial career, also made that gesture to the crowd asking for more respect for the three Premier League titles he had won in charge of Chelsea. 

Pep Guardiola was asked at a press conference whether the gestures were comparable and whether it might also mark the end of an era for the Spanish coach. "I hope not in my case... He won three, I won six.. but we are the same like that. We are together in the those situations. To make our fans know that we are much, much better than the people that sing that," he told reporters. 

"It [the gesture] was just to make our fans feel that what we have done is extraordinary. I want to prove that we are an incredi­ble football club. Sooner or later it’s going to be the end but I will try to extend as much as possible for the best of my club," he concluded.
