Currently it seems that there is no possible alternative for Hazard than a move to Madrid in the summer after several summers of rumours, that have all eventually led to the Belgian star staying at Stamford Bridge.
But why this summer and not previous ones? Mainly due to Hazard's contract, which now expires in 2020, essentially meaning that Chelsea can either allow the Beligan man to leave the club for the fee they are asking for this season, or keep him in the hope that they can persuade him to stay on, with the risk that he may end up leaving the London club for free at the end of the season.
However, Chelsea cannot bring any players in until the Summer of 2020, with their season long ban likely to be upheld, therefore they may well decide that they have no choice but to keep Hazard in London, and risk losing out on the 100 million euros they would likely receive.
The odds are being slashed
Hazard himself refused to rule out a move away from Stamford Bridge in a post match interview on 'Sky Sports' saying "We will see" to the question posed to him regarding his contract extension and potentially staying at Stamford Bridge, this has led to many to believe it is only a matter of time before he does indeed head to Madrid.
Maurizio Sarri, the Chelsea manager responded to the question about Hazard's worth saying: "116 million for Hazard? That seems like not enough for him, but I don't believe I can do much". According to 'El Partidazo de COPE', the Belgian has already started to look for a house in Madrid, and Chelsea have already signed Christian Pulisic, so they have a replacement.
Add to this that the Belgian has never exactly hidden his desire to play for Madrid, and with Zidane praising the Belgian, claiming he has always been a big fan of Hazard.
Will all of these indicators, Chelsea and Madrid just need to negotiate, with 'Sky Sports' again claiming that Hazard is worth 116 million euros, and Real are willing to pay that.
