Another injury setback for Manchester United as Harry Maguire faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a torn hip muscle.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently lost his two leading midfielders, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba due to injury and now his best defender Harry Maguire is also out at a time when his team need him the most.
Maguire missed out on Man United's 3-1 loss to Man City in the EFL Cup at Old Trafford, after he pilled up in the first half of United's goalless draw against Wolves last Saturday.
As Maguire insisted on playing on after he sustained the injury, he seems to have made it a lot worse than first thought. He looked in considerable discomfort as he left the Molineux and after undergoing several scans, the defender is believed to have suffered a small tear at the top of his hip.
At this point in time, it is unclear how long Maguire will be out for, but it is still another setback for Solksjaer.
When asked about the extent of Maguire’s injury after the City defeat, Solskjaer - whose side face Norwich City at Old Trafford on Saturday - said: “We don’t know - it’s not going to be a long, long, long-term one. So I don’t think he will ready for the weekend but let’s see.”
