For now, at least, Eric García will not play in the Champions League. Manchester City have submitted their 21 man squad to play in Europe's premier club competition and the Spaniard, who was close to signing for Barcelona, is not included.
There is still a chance that the defender could be called up to play in Europe's most famous competition. Before the 20th October, the defender could be called on after being included in the B Squad. this same is true of Phil Foden, who finds himself in the same sitaution.
These conditions apply to footballers born after the 1st January 1999 who have also been at the club since the age of 15 or for two consecutive seasons since turning 16.
Eric García, who would be eligible, appears to be the fifth choice centre-back for the Citizens. In terms of those called up, Guardiola seems to be more convinced by Ake, Stones, Laporte and the recently signed Rúben Dias.
Manchester City's full A Squad for the Champions League is as follows: Ederson, Steffen, Carson, Walker, Cancelo, Stones, Laporte, Aké, Mendy, Rúben Dias, Gündogan, Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Fernandinho, Zinchenko, Mahrez, Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Agüero, and Ferran Torres.
