For the last nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been riding the crest of a wave. He was already an outstanding footballer at MAnchester United, but his move to Real Madrid turned him into a player whose name will go down in history.
A plethora of goals, titles and individual honours followed, with his performances even goot enough to prevent Lionel Mesis from dominating the global football scene.
Now, in black and white, he wants more.
At the age of 33, Ronaldo has committed himself to at least four years at Juventus. The 'Old Lady' have backed the star to sprinkle some of his magic dust on them as a club and the Portuguese is keen to do everything he can to ensure that the 'Bianconeri' achieve what they plan to achieve.
In order to do so, Ronaldo has set himself a series of challenges to achieve during his time in Turin.
The first, to claim his sixth Ballon d'Or and move ahead of Lionel Messi's tally of five. A win would be Ronaldo's third in a row and fifth in just six years. The Champions League has been a key factor in recent years and the same could wind up being true this season. Ronaldo is without doubt one of the favourites, with the World Cup failing to provide an irresistible alternative.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's dream of winning another Champions League title remains alive. He has already won five in his career, putting him level with Paolo Maldini and Alfredo Di Stefano, but the Portugal international is keen to beat the record of six lifted by Real Madrid legend Paco Gento.
At the same time, winning a Champions League with Juventus would mean Ronaldo has been European champion with three different clubs, something previously only done by Samuel Eto'o and Clarence Seedorf. Ronaldo would have to change Juve's luck in order to do that, with the club having won just two of the nine European finals they have competed in.
Having already won the Premier League and La Liga in his career to date, the next step for Ronaldo is to win Serie A. That has proved to be a relatively straightforward task for Juve in recent years and they will certainly be the favourites this season.
Finally, during the course of Ronaldo's Juve contract will be the 2020 European Championships, giving him a and his country a chance to claim a second major title at international level. Should his body hold up, there may also be a shot as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which will coincide with the end of his contract with Juve.
