Speaking to 'Clarin' magazine, the Argentine made the surprising admission that despite having enjoyed a fine career in the game, he prefers to disconnect from football completely when not playing.
Tevez won three Premier League titles during his time in England as well as the 2008 Champions League with the red side of Manchester. Now 34, he is back in his ohmeland with boyhood club Boca Juniors.
"I never watch football. I don't like it," he said. "If Barcelona-Real Madrid is on, I change the channel to watch golf.
"I was never a football fanatic. I like to have the ball between my feet."
Meanwhile, Tevez also said that his difficult upbringing is the reason he tries to be there for youngsters going through similar things.
"In my neighbourhood you had to live off drugs, weapons and robbery," he explained.
"It was hard but we were happy. Always playing with a ball in the streets.
"We waste time in our country arguing and not helping children who die of hunger in the streets. When they need my help, I come."
