The 17-year-old midfielder came off the bench against Feyenoord to make his senior debut, and said that the fans chanting his name "meant everything" on his Manchester City bow.
Foden played the final 15 minutes at the Etihad Stadium as Raheem Sterling scored a late winner to secure a victory for Pep Guardiola's side.
"It meant everything. I've waited so long for this opportunity and it finally came and meant everything to me," Foden said. "It was an amazing experience."
The U17 World Cup winner is the first player born this century to play for the Citizens and Guardiola challenged him to cement a first-team place.
The midfielder paid tribute to a number of players in the City squad who are helping him to improve every day.
"It's brilliant to be around players like David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne and learn every day from them," Foden added. "It's an honour to be involved with the squad."
