Hazard's Chelsea contract is set to run out at the end of next season, and the forward is not short of suitors across Europe. After a sensational World Cup it was a surprise that the Belgian stuck around in the Premier League, though at the end of the season it will be an even bigger task to keep him, admits Fabregas.
Speaking to the 'Evening Standard', the Spaniard remarked: "It was an easy decision [to keep him], especially now, because at this stage how much can Eden cost?
"Not many teams in the world can buy Eden Hazard. He still had two years left on his contract. Next year if he has one year left, that's a different story. You don't have as much power as a club. Eden is one of the best players in the world.
"But having two years left, especially how the market is, it's basically impossible to sign him up. I don't think it was that hard from the club.
The 27-year-old has flourished under new boss Maurizio Sarri, with six goals already this season.
However, the Belgian's focus will now turn to Saturday's heavyweight clash as Chelsea take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
