"Everyone was very careful not to hurt Messi"

In an interview with the newspaper 'Bild', Jean-Clair Todibo revealed some details about his spell with Barcelona. One of the most curious things is how captain Lionel Messi was treated, as according to the player, "everyone was very careful not to hurt Messi".

The Frenchman hasn't had much game time at Barcelona. He was only part of 5 matches in 2 seasons; hence he went on loan to Schalke 04. Still, he could share the dressing room with some stars.

And the star par excellence is Leo Messi. The defender confessed that he had to be treated differently in training: "Everyone in the team was very aware that Messi could not be injured and that's why they were very careful not to hurt him".

Despite this control, he couldn't avoid but rain on his teammates' parade a few time: "I learned a lot training alongside Leo Messi and also, although it doesn't seem like it, I won some balls off him, but very careful not to injure him".

Now he is in the Bundesliga and will have to use all this knowledge learned at Barcelona to make him the best he can be. If he manages to win stripes and gets an enriching experience, maybe he'll return to Barca with more future aspirations.

The player also spoke about personal topics in the interview, such as why he chose the number 21 shirt. "My idol was Andrea Pirlo. I was overwhelmed by what he was doing on the park, I loved him as a child. He wore the number '21' and my mother was born on June 21st and so I chose the number 21".

He still hasn't been able to make his debut despite being on the bench in his side's latest win. A first bittersweet moment because of the 3 points Schalke got, but also because he played no part in his side's win.
