Everton set for leadership overhaul with Kinnear appointment

Kinnear, 47, has been at Leeds United since 2017, where he played a key role in the club's promotion to the Premier League in 2020. The move comes after Everton have been without a permanent CEO since the departure of Denise Barrett-Baxendale in June 2023.

Colin Chong has served in an interim capacity since then. Everton executive chairman Marc Watts praised Kinnear's appointment, stating: "Angus is one of England's leading football executives and brings a wealth of relevant experience. His appointment means Everton will go into the summer with a first-class leader."

Alongside Kinnear's arrival, the club also revealed that there will be changes to their executive structure. Football director Kevin Thelwell will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. Commercial and communications chief Richard Kenyon will also depart.

Everton announced that new appointments to the executive leadership team will be made in the near future. Furthermore, the club disclosed that they will move away from a single director of football structure and instead create a broader sporting leadership team.

Everton confirmed that "planning for the summer transfer window is already underway," with manager David Moyes and the sporting department taking the lead on recruitment matters.
