Donnarumma apologises to Jamal Musiala following injury-causing challenge

The clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich saw the French side progress, but also resulted in a serious injury for Jamal Musiala, who is set to be sidelined for between four and five months with a fractured fibula.

The injury occurred in the final play of the first half when Gianluigi Donnarumma dived to claim a ball that Musiala was also reaching. The severity of the incident was immediately apparent as his ankle buckled.

The Italian goalkeeper has faced considerable criticism, including from Manuel Neuer. 'RMC Sport' reports that the PSG 'keeper immediately expressed concern for the German international, with whom he exchanged messages after the match.

Donnarumma had hoped to speak in person with Musiala after the final whistle, but the latter had already been taken to hospital for tests. He eventually obtained his contact details to apologise for the incident, which he also did publicly via his social media channels: "All my prayers and best wishes are with you, Jamal Musiala."
