This weekend's Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 action has been postponed by the Deutsche Fussball Liga (DFL)
The DFL has announced the suspension of both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 this weekend. The German League had initially announced that the matches this weekend, matchday 26, were to go ahead. However, they have decided to postpone them in the end.
Therefore, all football has been halted in Germany until Thursday 2nd April pending another meeting of Bundesliga members to decide whether to take new measures since next weekend's action is due to be suspended on Monday.
According to the statement, the DFL understands that ending the championship before the end would led to severe consequences for some clubs both on a sporting front and economically.
"The DFL will propose in the meeting of the General Assembly next Monday to suspend Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 from next Tuesday until 2nd April. The aim is still to finish the season before the summer, from a sporting point of view, but especially because a premature end to the season could have consequences for some clubs," the league said in a statement.
