The versatile 23-year-old was linked with Sunderland earlier in the summer, but now appears set to remain in the Championship with a move to Frank Lampard's 'Rams'.
A fee of around £1m is thought to have been agreed between the two sides, with Evans thought to be keen on pushing through a deal.
Adept either in midfielder or defence, Evans came through the academy at Manchester City before joining the 'Royals' back in 2016.
A former England U19 international, Evans was key as Reading reached the Championship play-off final in 2016/17, but he found first-team opportunities harder to come by last term.
