De Jong's farewell to Barça: "What a special time it was"

Luuk de Jong arrived at Barcelona on the last day of last year's transfer window at just the right time. The Dutchman was signed on loan from Sevilla after Antoine Griezmann confirmed his return to Atletico Madrid.

Doubts and criticism of his play were evident after he arrived at Camp Nou, but the striker worked quietly and took his chances. At first he was relegated to the bench, but his performances as a revulsive player convinced Xavi.

The Spanish coach, faced with a large number of injuries, began to use him as a starter and he responded scoring seven goals for Barcelona. Now, the striker has officially said goodbye through a message on his social networks.

"Culers, what a special time it was... I wish you all the best in the future," he said on Thursday 30th June, the day his contract expired. The footballer's current situation is marked by the possible complaint of Toluca, who claimed to have had a signed pre-contract.

Meanwhile, PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooy said he is dreaming of his return: "We are doing everything for his return. He is an exceptional striker for us. His return to PSV is not realistic at the moment, but it is possible. I have a lot of faith, but that doesn't mean it will happen.
